Ask Me Anything: Kendall Brown
At Thrilld Labs, our team is made up of a global team with members coming from countries including the Netherlands and Italy to South Korea, Kazakhstan, Russia, the United States, Nigeria, and Scotland too! In our latest series, we’re thrilld to do AMAs with some of our team members. How come they are in Web3? What do they care about? And how will (or won’t!) they help build the future of our industry? In this AMA, we meet Kendall Brown, who is a Business & Growth Associate at Thrilld Labs.

In this AMA, we meet Kendall Brown, who is a Business & Growth Associate at Thrilld Labs. Kendall joined our team in April 2024 as a Digital Content & Business Development Trainee and is an undergraduate student at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea majoring in Economics and Asian Studies.
According to Kendall, who cares about doing impactful work yet did not know much about Web3 prior to joining our project, Web3 is special not in the last place because of its inclusive and responsive community.
We fully agree.
Read on to hear more about Kendall’s studies in Asia, what she does at Thrilld Labs (hint: she also worked on this very piece!) and if she sees a future for herself in the Web3 space…
What is your role, and how does your work at Thrilld Labs align (if at all!) with your career goals?

When I joined Thrilld Labs in April 2024, I started as a Digital Content & Business Development Trainee while my current role is a Business & Growth Associate I assist with different projects. Firstly, I help with outreach to potential partners and Web3 events, following up when needed. I also research and provide feedback on community initiatives, marketing strategies, or article ideas. Sometimes, these ideas come around full circle with new posts or interviews, such as this one!
I've enjoyed the flexibility in this role, as I can learn about the business behind partnerships, as well as use my creativity to work on articles and posts. I really enjoy writing, and in the process of making a new piece I learn new information.
I am not 100% about my career goals, but doing purposeful and impactful work has always been important to me. Even if I don’t pursue a career in Web3, I believe the skills and knowledge I'm building are invaluable. Because of the future of technology and also for its applications. And, even if I don’t understand everything on a technical level yet, I see the potential for how it can impact people's lives. Coming from a humanities background, I’m particularly interested in how this might impact our current society.
What’s one thing you’ve learned since joining the Web3 space that surprised/touched/excited/impressed you?
When I joined Thrilld Labs, my knowledge of Web3 was lacking, to say the least. As an Economics and Asian Studies major, I hadn’t been exposed to many of the technical concepts behind blockchain and cryptocurrencies. It definitely took a learning curve to grasp these concepts and, even still, there are many things that I am learning everyday.
Regardless of my previous experience or background, I found that in Web3 people were open to talking and sharing. In Web3, there are many communities and groups that give support, including events from smaller weekly meet ups to annual global events. When reaching out, whether as a student curious to learn more or as a Business Developer from Thrilld Labs, I found that often I received a response! I think this is one of the highlights of what makes Web3 special because of its inclusive community.
About YOU as a person, what do most others not necessarily expect about you?

For University, I moved first to Incheon in South Korea and then to Seoul because our University has two campuses. From elementary school to graduating high school I always lived in the same town, and by the time I was graduating I wanted to have something like a new life experience. I was looking forward to learning more about the world and about a society and culture that was completely different than what I was familiar with.
During my final year of high school, I took a course on East Asian History and everyday my teacher would tell us stories about his time traveling overseas. At this point, I was thinking about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life and decided to just try applying to Universities abroad as I didn’t know what to expect.
When I received an acceptance email, I was bubbling with excitement and anticipation. From there, I bought the plane ticket and the rest is history… or not so much. In truth, this was my first time living in a major city, and at first, all the activity and places to explore were exciting.
However, after about a year, I was starting to feel homesick. I think this is quite normal, but in the first year or so I was caught up in adjusting to a new lifestyle, taking classes and doing student clubs that time went by quickly.
Once in Seoul every day, I realized I really didn’t want to take yet another bus! I grew up being outside and raising chickens and other farm animals. For a long time, I planned to become a veterinarian (after a bloody incident I realized this wasn’t it…). I guess I realized the value of always being in nature and taking care of animals and that city life maybe isn’t the life for me!
Has your experience been what you expected? Or has the initial reason why you joined Thrilld Labs changed in any way?
When I began at Thrilld Labs, I didn’t have a solid background in Web3, blockchain or cryptocurrencies. There was a lot I had to learn, but I was determined to do my best. After almost 10 months, I’ve built my business development and copywriting skills and figured out what works and what doesn’t. This has been massive in helping me understand what I’m comfortable with and, frankly, what I enjoy doing and building up confidence along the way.
I am genuinely thrilld that I joined Thrilld Labs and still am. The team and founder, Alexandra, is always supportive and personable and continues to motivate me to learn more and even to give new things a try. Thus, I am recently reading more into the technical side of Web3 and I plan to delve further into these concepts even further soon. So, I would say that the reason why I joined has changed, as I now know more about the Web3 space, I want to dive further in and explore more of the nuanced and technical aspects.
