Thrilld Labs Partners with Blockchain Ireland's Startups and Web3 Working Group

We are thrilld to announce a community networking partnership with the Startups and Web3 Working Group of Blockchain Ireland.

Blockchain Ireland is an industry network dedicated to promoting and sharing information on blockchain, crypto and Web3 in Ireland. One of the six working groups (WG) of this network, the Startups & Web3 WG, supports Web3 entrepreneurship and talent through collaboration and partnership and knowledge sharing that create visibility for the talent and opportunity in the Irish blockchain ecosystem.

Founded in 2015, Blockchain Ireland co-signed the Cooperation on European Blockchain Partnership in 2019. It is a non-profit, member-led organisation that includes state agencies, corporates, academics, and professionals working in the blockchain field. Fundamentally, the organisation aims to “simplify the Irish blockchain landscape for businesses large and small that are thinking about launching their blockchain-related ventures, or expanding their existing business, in Ireland”.

Recently, Blockchain Ireland is set to support wider community engagement and offer greater accessibility to the benefits of Web3 events through online or hybrid options. As part of their ongoing efforts, the Startups & Web3 WG also provides:

• events designed for open discussions and knowledge-sharing, which connect people, projects, and networks;
• educational resources such as the Blockchain Bootcamp for Startup interns;
• initiatives to “explore hot, fresh topics and inspire curiosity and participation,” all to raise awareness about blockchain, Web3 and crypto, which also foster local and international networking..

The WG was initiated in February of 2021 by Fiona Delaney, a specialist in agro-blockchain and a veteran of the EU blockchain and Defi innovation scene, who, alongside Alejandro Gutierrez, co-founder of ETH Dublin, amongst other things, jointly helmed the group for four years growing the community from forty members to their current list of six-hundred subscribers through events, focus groups, networking and good old-fashioned socialising.

Blockchain Ireland, like many similar collective initiatives, has a rigorous governance model. Alejandro has recently stepped aside from his co-chair role at the Startups WG to deconflict with his new role as a Director of the main Blockchain Ireland organisation.

Fiona describes the members of the Startups and Web3 group as “doers, builders, creatives and makers. From metaverse to multi-agentic AI, dark web crawlers and plastic recyclers, fintech, and compliance regulation, this group makes a home for the very best of blockchain innovation - it’s a place for those individuals who want to share and learn, derisk their DeFi projects and grow within an ecosystem of likeminded, future-facing talent”.

In fact, the group holds meetings on a monthly basis during which keynote speakers share insights and expertise on blockchain applications in their relative fields. One of the main events of Blockchain Ireland is the Blockchain Ireland Summit, an annual event that taps into the ever-evolving topic of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.

As part of the partnership, the Startup and Web3 WG will be listed in Thrilld as a Community. This means that for events hosted by the WG, members may network with one another as well as find event details through the Thrilld app. What’s more? Even if there is no upcoming event, users may still access the community list and network anytime, anywhere. On that note, members can also showcase their involvement in the WG community on their Thrilld profile and will have free access to premium Thrilld features.
